It’s been a tough year for the great people of hospitality but we’re celebrating the spirit of hope and resilience as venues in NSW and VIC reopen again. Summer is right around the corner and Australians are ready to enjoy a round of drinks fresh off the tap more than ever. To help out our partners, we’ve put together a list of things to get around before opening up to the public.
Make sure your operations are tested and ready
Between changing restrictions and frantically trying to open up your doors again, there's a lot of I's to dot and T's to cross. We've pulled together a handy checklist for you to consider so that you can focus on what you do best - serving Australians. From COVID-19 Safety Plans to rebooting your Point-of-Sale systems, we’ve got you covered on everything you need to think about.
Train, prepare, and check in on your team
We know the great people of Australian hospitality are ready to come back stronger and smarter than ever before. Your team are your most valuable assets that will allow your venues to truly thrive and shone so it's important more than ever to communicate regularly with them. Check in on how they're going, organise training to help them adjust, and let them know how you'll keep them updated as things no doubt continue to change. Stay strong hospo, we love you.
Get social on your socials
When lockdown ended last year, hospitality spending soared by 28%, meaning customers are desperate to be social, and they’re ready to spend big after months of being cooped up at home. So, get on your socials and pump the content. Showcase new menu items, old favourites, happy hour, and delightful cocktails to help entice customers into dining at your venue. Don't forget to update your opening hours on your social pages, website, eDMs, and Google My Business listing, and keep your customers regularly up to speed.
Stay across changing customer spending habits
Raise a glass. Going hand in hand with the need to be social, customers are now splurging on top shelf liquor, with venues seeing a 400% increase in spirit orders from March 2020 to March 2021. Staying cooped up indoors has meant that people are ready to treat themselves to the finer things in life, like Belvedere, Don Julio, and Hendricks. Our ‘Reigniting Hospitality’ report details the top 10 trends that venues can expect to see in a world post-COVID.
Embrace technology to help you operate smarter
With a few simple swaps to technology that has been proven to ease difficulties in-house, venues can reinvent both back and front of house. Consumers’ appetites for seamless tech has only increased during COVID, and the expectations for hospitality have levelled up too. Venues can implement time-saving technology that can slash order wait times, easily sort out the bill, and improve the sequence of service. That’s what we call innovation.
